Could douce commerce be an answer in the Middle East? Galal (Egyptian Center for Economic Studies and the World Bank), Lawrence (trade and investment, Harvard U.) and their contributors believe a free trade agreement between Egypt and the US would have benefits for both, arguing that an FTA would further Egypt's economic progress, stimulate regional reform, avoid trade diversion and improve bilateral economic relations. They believe that such an agreement should include reduction or elimination of tariffs, of course, but also concentrate on policies that would attract US investment into Egypt.
