Life is pretty dreary for the residents of the Eastview Retirement Center. Every day it's the same old same old. But then some residents start to talk at suppertime. The result of their discussion is the desire to form a baseball team. If they could play just one more game, they think they could get some dignity and self-respect back. The nursing home administration will not hear of such a thing. Old people don't play baseball! But Martin Reeves and his tablemates arrange a game with the Little League All-Stars that practice on the field just next door to where they live. A newspaper sports writer hears about it, writes a story, and the big game takes on a life of its own. As a result, the game is played, not on the little league diamond, but in a triple-A baseball stadium with packed stands. Everyone wins.
