Clinical Radiology of the Horse is the only text book, dedicated to the horse, which provides a comprehensive overview of radiography and radiology of all areas of the horse. It provides a thorough guide both to the techniques used to obtain radiographs of the horse, and to radiographic interpretation. With almost 600 superb annotated radiographs and more than 120 line diagrams, the book combines the best features of a high quality atlas and those of a detailed text book. The normal radiographic anatomy of immature and mature horses is presented, with normal variations, incidental findings and details of significant abnormalities. Remarks on clinical prognosis and treatment are also included. The emphasis throughout is on practical tips, common pitfalls, and the techniques used to obtain the best radiographs of specific areas and conditions. This third edition still focuses on radiography and radiology, but acknowledges the limitations of radiography in some circumstances. In these situations reference is made to other imaging techniques which may be appropriate, with suggestions for further reading. Jennifer Podolski This second edition equine radiology book includes 13 chapters, three appendixes, and an index. The first edition was published in 1993. The purpose is to fulfill the need for a textbook that specifically addresses equine radiography and radiology and that would be of benefit for both general practitioners and veterinary specialists. There are few, if any, other books published in this field, so the objectives are worthy. The editors are very successful in meeting these objectives. According to the editors, this book is written for anyone who radiographs horses, and I agree. This book is excellent for general equine practitioners, equine and imaging specialists, veterinary residents, and students. The editors are credible authorities, either equine or radiology specialists or both. Techniques for equine radiography are described with many illustrations included to explain the positioning of the horse and necessary equipment. Radiographic interpretation is discussed including normal and abnormal findings in every region of the horse. There are excellent illustrations, descriptions, and line drawings for these findings. A list of physeal closure times, an exposure guide and description of image quality, and a glossary of terms are included in the appendixes. References for further reading are listed after each chapter. This is an excellent book for this field. The second edition includes more information on specific lesions, and has more illustrations and drawings. Many of the illustrations that were in the previous edition have been improved in the second.
