The societies and cultures of the Asia-Pacific are undergoing enormous changes which have radically altered the life of the average person, making it very different from that of their parents' and grandparents' generations. Culture and Society in the Asia-Pacific examines the critical social and cultural factors in the rise of the Asia-Pacific region at the end of the twentieth century. It looks at the tension between tradition and modernity, especially how Western and other Asian cultures have had an impact on traditional cultures.
