Over the years that followed, Catherine endured a series of over 20 horrendous operations as surgeons attempted to heal her mutilated body. After difficult legal battles against Pan Am and her medical team, Catherine found herself facing her greatest challenge so far, as she became engulfed by depression when she slowly realized that nothing would ever be the same again, as she was left permanently disabled. Dancing in the Sea tells of her struggle, as well as her eventual realization that there were new ways of doing things and her life would go on.
