How does one join the official William Shatner fan club? Or a club dedicated to KC and the Sunshine Band? And just how does one go about finding other fans of the Lansing Lugnuts minor league baseball team? This completely updated and greatly expanded edition of the acclaimed 1992 reference work provides access to over 2,400 fan clubs of all types worldwide. Arranged by keyword (e.g., the William Shatner fan club would be found in the "S" section), each entry provides an address to write for further information. New to this edition are hundreds of online fan clubs, along with the Internet homepage locations and e-mail addresses for conventional clubs when available. The index provides thorough cross-referencing for further utility. Library Journal This expanded edition updates the 1992 volume and adds 400 entries. Dewey (303 Software Programs To Use in Your Library, LJ 4/1/98) provides contacts for fan clubs and direct addresses for actors, musicians, athletes, television shows, and more. Dues, benefits, and meeting times have been included for many groups. Because listings are alphabetical by organization name, it is unfortunate that the somewhat flawed index does not always bring together all of the clubs on one topic. For example, while several clubs are listed under Star Trek, the rest of the show's 50+ "correspondence clubs" are only indexed under their names (e.g., USS Aegis). A better choice might be the annual Fan Club Directory published by the National Association of Fan Clubs (NAFC, Burbank, CA, (818) 763-3280). This directory includes ads from registered NAFC clubs and tips on writing to celebrities, and like Dewey's book offers E-mail and URL addresses. Some libraries may choose to have both directories for comprehensiveness. Recommended to supplement public library reference collections.--Kelli N. Perkins, Herrick P.L., Holland, MI
