The most recent in a series of volumes devoted to exploring the lives and contributions of notable geographers. Nine contributions are included and the geographers studied range from the 19th century's Francis Beaufort and Francisco Díaz Covarrubias to more recent figures like James J. Parsons and William Warntz. Notable in this volume is the inclusion of Karl Marx, who, while not a geographer himself, influenced numbers of geographers from younger generations. Each entry relates the biography of the subject and presents information on the particular scientist's work and works related. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
