It continues on to the present day where women's ice hockey receives a lot more notice. The surge in public interest in the sport accompanied the USA's win in the 1998 winter Olympics. You can learn about what it takes to play, the gear, and some of the more important rules and aspects of the game. There are also quick little biographies of some of the more notable women playing today. One of the best parts of the book is the encouragement it offers young girls that are interested in playing ice hockey and other sports. It offers ideas for sports scholarships and insight about professional organizations. The pictures and graphics throughout are marvelous, very bright, and interesting.
