When Fly Guy and Buzz play hide-and-seek, Fly Guy hides in his favorite place--the garbage can. But as Buzz finishes counting, the garbageman drives away with the garbage and Fly Guy, too! A very worried Buzz follows the truck to the dump, where he sees zillions of flies. Where is Fly Guy?! Time after time, Buzz thinks he spies Fly Guy, only to be snubbed, boinked, or bitten. Then he realizes they've been playing a game. He yells, "I give up. You win!" And Fly Guy leaves his new hiding place--he was on top of Buzz's hat all along! Praise for Fly Guy: "Great fun for reading alone, sharing with a friend, or entertaining a class." --Booklist (review of There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Fly Guy) Hi! Fly Guy was named a Theodor Seuss Geisel honor book. Children's LiteratureThis is the story of a boy and his pet fly. The fly lives in a garbage can with a whole bunch of other flies and likes to play hide and seek with the boy Buzz. Wherever Buzz hides, the fly eventually finds his way in. Nevertheless, one day the boy and the fly get separated when the garbageman arrives unexpectedly and takes the fly with the garbage to the dump. Buzz, not to be deterred, gets his (very accommodating) father to take him to the garbage dump where he searches and searches until the true fly makes himself known to the ecstatic Buzz. It's not quite certain what the value of this story is other than it's easy to read. On the other hand, it might encourage young children to play with flies and garbage cans. Adults reading it to children might find it kind of . . . well, disgusting. The pictures are cute if you like pictures of flies and garbage cans. Reviewer: Myrna Dee Marler

Reviewer: Myrna Dee Marler\ \ \ \ \ School Library JournalPreS-Gr 2—Fly Guy and Buzz are back in this outrageously funny adventure told in three simple chapters. Fly Guy's propensity to hide in a garbage can when he and Buzz play hide-and-seek results in disaster. Fly Guy is carted off to the dump, and when the boy tries to find him, he is faced with a multitude of flies that look, act, and sound exactly like his pal. And every one of those flies can call his name—Buzz! Fortunately, the one and only Fly Guy thinks they are still playing the game. He has been hanging upside down from the visor of Buzz's cap, as close as any good friend can get. There's no mistaking Arnold's hilarious cartoon illustrations, and in this new addition to a popular series, there are plenty of them to enjoy.—Gloria Koster, West School, New Canaan, CT\ \
