Most of the commentary and brief articles include a basic bibliography, and both a scriptural and a supplementary article index enhance the volume. The inclusion of more Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox scholarship and full commentary instead of just an article on intertestamental history and literature would have increased the comprehensiveness and scope of this book, but it is nevertheless an admirable and very useful volume for lay people, clergy, and even biblical scholars. It is also the only commentary available with this specific focus; Women in Scripture: A Dictionary of Named and Unnamed Women in the Hebrew Bible, the ApocryphalDeuterocanonical Books, and the New Testament is differently organized and comments on the women rather than on the biblical passages.
