In its tone, structure, and portrayal of Jesus, the Gospel of John differs greatly from the other three gospels. It lacks the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord's Prayer, and any parables, and focuses rather on claims Jesus made about his relationship to God, "signs" that gave evidence to that relationship, and the resulting conflicts that emerged. John's story of Jesus is theologically complex, interweaving dualistic themes of light and darkness, and presenting Jesus as originating "from heaven," making him more divine than he appears in the other gospels. John also underscores the conflict between those who accepted Jesus as Messiah and those who did not, typically refering to Jesus' opposition as "the Jews" - which throughout history has raised intense theological dilemmas regarding Christianity's view of Judaism. Notable passages include the making of wine at the Cana wedding, dialogue with Nicodemus, conversation with the Samaritan woman, the feeding of the 5,000 and Jesus walking on water.
