Mario Lemieux: Final Period
His surname means “The Best,” and Mario Lemieux spent a 12-season National Hockey League career living up to the expectations. Despite a relentless series of medical setbacks, including a well-publicized battle with cancer, Lemieux led the Pittsburgh Penguins to two Stanley Cups and won six NHL scoring titles before retiring in 1997 at the tender age of 31.
