The authors state this is a text for the dental professional. However, it could also be an excellent source of reference for the resident or student. The authors have numerous publications on oral pathology and oral medicine. The book covers various topics such as bleeding disorders, cardiac disease, diabetes, and immunosuppressive treatment, as well as their management. The topics encompass day-to-day concerns for the dental practitioner. Tables are clear and concise, and easy to understand. This fourth edition has a section of colored photographs, which can aid in understanding some aspects of a specific malady. This is an excellent reference for the many conditions of the dental patient. It can be useful as a guide for the practitioner, or a primary text for students. Due to the complex and changing nature of medicine, this fourth edition was warranted.
