Son Matthew, then 17, and Judy announced that they were going to look at puppies. It was October 1990 and our old Cocker Spaniel, Lady, had been gone for some time. "No you're not," I said. They both stopped. "Nobody goes to "look at" puppies", I said. "If you've already found puppies to 'look at' then you're really going to buy one."
