In June 2000 in Istanbul, researchers from around the world gathered at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop to discuss the mitigation and financing of earthquake hazards. This volume contains 15 papers originally presented at that workshop. A sampling of topics includes public-private partnerships for reducing seismic risk losses, recent changes in Turkish disaster policy, and derivative effects of the 1999 earthquake in Taiwan on U.S. personal computer manufacturers.
