\ Children's LiteratureThis book is one of the lesser titles in Rosa-Mendoza's bilingual board book series for young learners. Butler's illustrations feature two children with rigid features and few expressions beyond a grin or a smile. Also, the text reads like a laundry list: "I have two eyes, two ears, and one nose. I have two arms and two hands." Unfortunately, the two children never do anything with their body parts besides show them off like anatomy dummies. This book about the body is a bit lifeless, and the diagrams can be confusing as the yellow arrows do not clearly highlight the portion of the body they reference. Despite lacking energy, the book is accurate and free of linguistic mistakes; you may use it confidently with your young learner. I do not recommend using the glossary as it seems to have been composed by someone with an American accent in Spanish and a Spanish accent in English. The glossary imposes each language's phonology upon the other's indiscriminately and offers pronunciations guides like, "shoulder—choul-der" and "trasero—trah-say-ro." This book is volume eight in the "English/Spanish Foundations" series. 2002, Me+Mi Publishing, Ages 6 mo. to 6. \ —Veronica Betancourt\ \
