This movie tie-in editon of the unabridged recording of PRINCE CASPIAN by Lynn Redgrave will feature a movie still on the box.Children's LiteratureThis edition of Lewis' story was published specifically to accompany and promote the newest movie in the Narnia series, but it also serves as a good advertisement for the joy of reading and not just viewing these classic tales. A movie depends on the director's imagination, while a book depends on the reader's imagination, as with this passage: "The Bulgy Bears were very anxious to have the feast first and leave the council till afterward Reepicheep and his Mice proposed storming Miraz in his castle that very night Pattertwig and the other Squirrels said they could talk and eat at the same time, so why not have the council and feast all at once." Reading affords time to laugh and ponder Lucy's insistence that she saw the lion Aslan, as in this passage: "Where did you think you saw him?' asked Susan. Don't talk like a grown-up,' said Lucy I didn't think I saw him. I saw him.'" For those who want to peek at the director's vision of the story, there are several pages of color photos from the movie. There is also a page of background, written by Lewis, that helpfully explains all that happened to Peter, Susan, Lucy and Edmund before Prince Caspian appeared on the scene. The "major motion picture" is a wonderful excuse to buy or borrow the book, if any excuse is necessary. Reviewer: Karen Leggett
