Clear text describes the actions of each machine in 12-15 words. This approach allows the book to be enjoyed both by the youngest of preschoolers as a read-to-me and by emergent readers as a read-alone. Chum McLeod's accompanying illustrations are bright and bold. Background detail is kept to a minimum with the primary focus being on the featured truck. Young truck fanatics will appreciate the level of detail painted into each vehicle. All the necessary levers, pistons and hoists have been included in a simplified form suited to the child audience.
