This undergraduate textbook provides a description of the composition, mineralogy, textures, structures, diagenesis, and depositional environments of sedimentary rock. Chapters describe the various sorts of sedimentary rock, including siliciclastic sediments, limestones, evaporites, iron deposits, phosphate deposits, coal and petroleum, cherts and siliceous sediments, and volcaniclasatic sediments. Numerous black and white photographs are included, as are 16 color plates, and 74 color photo-micrographs of sedimentary rock in thin- section.
