The International Food Policy Research Institute inaugurated a multi- country research program on rural financial policy for food security of the poor. The resulting 17 studies consider access to and demand for financial services by the poor, outreach by institutions and their financial sustainability, measuring the impact of microfinancing, and the role of the public and private sectors in the economic stability of rural financial systems for the poor.
