\ Children's LiteratureA group of children blissfully passes through the four seasons of the temperate regions in this board book. Hullinger's abundant use of pattern in the illustrations make the seasons seem more lively and full of movement. The book is simply formatted, with the two languages on opposite sides of the spread to prevent confusion. However, there is not much to the book beyond friendly illustrations and clear exposition of meteorological conditions. This title would certainly be more interesting to possible readers if there were some narrative or a clear cast of characters. I do not recommend using the glossary as it seems to have been composed by someone with an American accent in Spanish and a Spanish accent in English. The glossary imposes each language's phonology upon the other's indiscriminately and offers pronunciations guides like, "weather—ue-dar" and "el arco iris—ehl ahr-koh ee-res." This book is volume six in the "English/Spanish Foundations" series and won the Latino Literacy Hall of Fame Award and Writer's Digest Certificate of Merit. 2005, Me+Mi Publishing, Ages 3 to 6. \ —Veronica Betancourt\ \
