This is the history and biograhy of Smoky, the tiny Yorkshire Terrier, and the memoirs of her master, Bill Wynne, who trained her during World War II to perform hundreds of tricks. Smoky entertained troops in the far Pacific during 18 months of combat. After the war, she went on to Hollywood, Vaudeville, and appeared on pioneer television.

Yorkie Doodle Dandy is a memoir of a Yorkshire Terrier, "Smoky," and a young soldier, William A. Wynne, during World War II. The four pound terrier was originally found in a foxhole in the jungles of New Guinea and was given to the author. Trained to do tricks never before seen, Smoky accompanied Wynne during combat flights in the Pacific. When the war ended, Smoky went home with Bill to Cleveland, Ohio. Not only did Smoky entertain numerous people during and after the war, she and Wynne appeared on some of the earliest TV shows in the Cleveland area, including a show of their own.
