It is considered the gold standard among instructors and students as the questions are very similar to the questions on the registry."--Doody's Review Service"The detailed indices at the start of each chapter are an asset and should make using the text for pre-AART exam study that much easier for students. the explanations included in the answer section at the end of each chapter are excellent, as are the chapter exercises prior to multiple choice questions."--James V. Lampka, MS, RTR, Director, Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Medical Radiography Program (Medford, MA)Written by a teacher with 35+ years of experience, Radiography PREP is designed to save study time and reduce stress by making exam preparation easier and more effective. This feature-packed study guide helps you focus your attention on the most important -- and frequently tested topics -- so you maximize your study time and your grade.Everything you need to excel on the exam:• A summary of the entire radiography curriculum in a concise, readable narrative that makes understanding and memorizing key concepts easy• 860+ registry-format questions, including a 200-question practice test• Includes answers with detailed explanations and references to core textbooks• Packed with a wealth of study aids such as summary boxes, glossaries, 440+ chapter-ending questions that improve memory retention, and 400+ illustrations and clinical images that clarify must-know concepts• Coverage of the latest developments in radiography, including computed and digital imaging• Written by an experienced educator and Radiography Program Director who knows exactly what it takes to pass Doody Review Services Reviewer:Mary L Bloomfield, BA RT (R) (M)(Froedtert Hospital)Description:This book prepares students to take the ARRT registry exam, providing a comprehensive review of all aspects of the radiologic technology program and containing over 800 review questions. All answers are explained and referenced so it is an excellent study tool. The fourth edition was published in 2006.Purpose:The purpose is twofold. The book will help students prepare for the national registry exam and understand and review pertinent material while they are taking classes. These are worthy objectives. It is critical that students have a well written, all inclusive book to help them review for the registry. It also will help them recognize and learn important concepts as they take classes.Audience:The book is written for radiologic technology students while they are in the radiologic technology program and while they are preparing to take the ARRT exam when they have completed the program. The author is the director of a radiography program. Features:This book covers all topics that will be assessed on the ARRT exam. There is a section for each major subject area and the chapters discuss all specific topics in each area. There are questions at the end of each chapter as well as a 200 question practice exam, with answers and explanations. The answers for the practice exam are referenced, so students can look up more in-depth information about the topic. The inside covers list formulae, body surface landmarks, and other information students can review right before taking the exam. Most of the few minor shortcomings have to do with editing. However, there should be at least some discussion of the Situation Judgment Tests that are now included in the exam.Assessment:This is an excellent review that offers everything necessary for students to prepare for the registry. It is considered the gold standard among instructors and students as the questions are very similar to the questions on the registry. Compared to another review book in this area, Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Radiography: The Complete Study Guide and Career Planner, by Callaway (Elsevier, 2008), this book covers the material in more depth and fulfills its goal better, which is preparing the students for the registry. This edition is warranted as it offers current information on computed and digital imaging. The field of radiologic technology is dynamic and a review book must reflect any changes.
