\ Children's Literature\ - Judy Crowder\ Shrimp are just those things you eat at a seafood restaurant, right? Not even close. Shrimp vary in size, body parts, coloring, and so on. As with other books in this "Under the Sea" series, the writer makes the range of sizes easy for the youngest reader to understand. Well-written, simple sentences introduce the very young reader to understanding what shrimp are, how they hide from predators, how they move about, plus how and what they eat. The standout in this book—and series—is the photo illustration. After seeing bright red or patterned shrimp in their habitats, can people look at shrimp as a menu item ever again? I am on the shrimp's side. The book includes an index, a glossary, bibliography and website information. Giving the scientific names would have been helpful, if only for adults.
